Learning Workshops

Each workshop consists of six 45 minute online sessions once a week. There are no more than 10 students in each session, so each student is given individual attention. Sessions take place using the Microsoft Teams or Zoom platform which has features designed for optimal learning, such as browser sharing, white board,  and web cam.   There is limited availability for each course. Essay Writing Level I (Middle School)

Start Date: September 8, 2020

Time: Tuesdays at 2:00 (PT)

Weeks: 6 sessions- Once a Week.

Duration: 45 min.

This class focuses on learning the basic parts of a five paragraph essay. Students will practice writing thesis statements, using transitional phrases, and integrating relevant evidence from sources into their writing.  Students will learn from each other and have fun working in an engaging collaborative atmosphere.

Writing, Grammar, and Mechanics

Middle School Level 1

Start Date: September 8, 2020

Time: Tuesdays at 3:00 (PT)

Weeks: 6 session- Once a Week.

Duration: 45 min

This class focuses on some of the common grammatical mistakes made by many people when writing.  Students will learn the rules of subject-verb agreement,  parallel sentence structure, pronoun and antecedent, and compound sentences. Students will participate in engaging activities that will spark a love for grammar!

Literature Study 6th Grade (Semester I)

Date: August 7, 2022- December 16, 2022

Time: Asynchronous 

Assignments: Due Sundays at 8:00 p.m. 

Cost: $150.00

 

This course will expose students to a selection of grade-level short stories, novels, and poetry.  It will prepare students to cultivate and apply their understanding of literature to explore concepts such as plot, character, motive, structure, perspective, figurative language, and more.  The assignments for this course cater to all types of learners (visual, auditory, and hands-on).

Date: August 7, 2022- December 16, 2022

Time: Asynchronous 

Assignments: Due Sundays at 8:00 p.m. 

Cost: $150.00

This course will expose students to a selection of grade-level short stories, novels, and poetry.  It will prepare students to cultivate and apply their understanding of literature to explore concepts such as plot, character, motive, structure, perspective, figurative language, and more.  The assignments for this course cater to all types of learners while still meeting the appropriate rigor needed to progress in Language Arts.

This course will require students to analyze a selection of grade-level short stories, p, and poetry.  It will prepare students to meet the rigor and demand of high school coursework.
