Types of Tutoring!


JWR Curriculum Driven Tutoring Sessions. 

Duration: 50 min

Time: As Scheduled

These tutoring sessions offer one-on-one instruction.  The topics for each class are predetermined by Mrs. Rodriguez.  Content is very engaging, and the curriculum encourages active participation from the student. 

Home School Curriculum Tutoring Sessions. 

Duration: 50 min

Time: As Scheduled

These tutoring sessions offer one-on-one instruction.  The topics for each class are tailored to accommodate student's homes school instruction.  Parent will provide a list of topics that Ms. Rodriguez will teach.

MINI Tutoring Sessions. 

Duration: 30 min

Time: As Scheduled

These tutoring sessions also offer one-on-one instruction. However, they are shorter in duration than the normal 50 minute tutoring session.   These sessions are great for younger elementary students who may not want to sit for long periods of time. The topics for each class are agreed upon by Mrs. Rodriguez and the parent.

Learning Workshops

Each workshop consists of six 45 minute online sessions once a week. There are no more than 10 students in each session, so each student is given individual attention. Sessions take place using the Microsoft Teams or Zoom platform which has features designed for optimal learning, such as browser sharing, white board,  and web cam.   There is limited availability for each course. Winter Workshops Offered:



Essay Writing Level I (Middle School)

Start Date: January 12, 2021

Time: Tuesdays at 2:00 (PT)

Weeks: 6 sessions- Once a Week.

Duration: 45 min.

This class focuses on learning the basic parts of a five paragraph essay. Students will practice writing thesis statements, using transitional phrases, and integrating relevant evidence from sources into their writing.  Students will learn from each other and have fun working in an engaging collaborative atmosphere.  

Writing, Grammar, and Mechanics

Middle School Level 1

Start Date: January 12, 2021

Time: Tuesdays at 3:00 (PT)

Weeks: 6 session- Once a Week.

Duration: 45 min

This class focuses on some of the common grammatical mistakes made by many people when writing.  Students will learn the rules of subject-verb agreement,  parallel sentence structure, pronoun and antecedent, and compound sentences. Students will participate in engaging activities that will spark a love for grammar!


Academic Clubs

At JWR Tutoring, I understand the importance of providing opportunities for students to connect with each other.  These connections can be used to create great academic experiences.  My Academic Clubs help to extend and support learning as well as allow students to explore new educational interests.  Socially, students connect with each other, develop leadership skills, and gain social confidence.  Above all, students have FUN while learning! 

I offer a variety of clubs that appeal to different interests.  In short, there is something for everyone! Each club runs for six week, once a week.  Students will be given a light homework assignment to prepare them for each session.   All meeting will be held in a virtual classroom with no more than 10 students present.  REGISTER TODAY!

Creative Writing I Club:

Date: January 14, 2021

Days: Thursdays at 2:00 (PT)

Weeks: 6 sessions- Once a week

Duration: 45 min.

Students will write various genres: fiction, nonfiction, journalism, letter writing, poetry, and more.  Each meeting will consist of sharing writing, playing games, reading short passages and discussing our ideas!
